This one is for Grampa Larry

This past friday we went off base to a little stinky town right outside the gate called, songtan. There isnt much to do around here without driving a while and even then most of the time we ended up getting frustrated than having some fun. Long story short...To get off and on base (walking) you must pass through this gate where you show your ID and they scan it. This is also the building you have to go to when getting a visitor pass. On the counter they have two small flags as decoration. American flag and Korean flag.

On the way back home Kat-chow noticed the flags and yelled: " Daddy look, Pepsi Flag." We were all laughing so hard we could not even correct him right away. Even the gate guards were laughing, the only person who didnt ofcourse was this Korean lady who were at the counter. In fact she sounded angry and shouted back at kat-chow: " its not a pepsi flag". It did not matter, we were all laughing in the room. I think her statement only made us laugh even harder.

What an observation, we never noticed before how close the Korean flag and pepsi symble were. I thought Grampa Larry would have a kick out of this one. Your little grandchild loves Pepsi!

Another adventure

Last week we had to go to Seoul for my Drs Appointment. All started out great, both kids woke up in a good mood. We got ready, had breakfast and off to Seoul we go. For those who don’t know, Seoul is really not that far away when looking at miles. But because of traffic, it can take someone 40mins or 2 hours to arrive. This guy absolutely hates driving to Seoul and usually ends up in a bad mood because of “smart Koreans”. By the way we love them!

Anyway, not even 20 minutes into our drive there Kat- chow shouted, MOM! I turned around only to find him covered in vomit, with the saddest face I have even seen. This guy pulls over, or tried to find a spot to pull over where I wouldn’t be hit by one of the "great" drivers you will find in Korea. The entire time this guy kept yelling at the koreans driving by, freaking idiots, gah you dumb A**, it sure was fun. After much trouble trying to clean Kat-chow and avoiding being ran over, I finally cleaned as much as I could and we got back on the road. I cannot explain how strong the smell was. Even with the windows open, the heat was not helping at all. Five minutes after we were heading back toward our destination, Chubb starts to gag. And once again Kat-chow vomits and this time I had nothing to clean but a few wipes left and a blanket. We ended up having to take all his clothes off and use another blanket to cover him up. Once again we take off and hope to make it to our destination before another episode happens. Two minutes later its Chubb’s turn, I could do nothing but laugh. Luckily we were not very far from our destination, Chubb had to sit there and wait till we get to a store, where we could get some cleaning supplies and new clothing for both.

I wish all of this would have happened on the way home, mainly because we had 1 hr till my appointment and we still had to drive back home. The heat made the car have the most amazing smell, thank goodness for febreeze. By the end of the day I learned a valuable lesson. Always have extra pair of clothing for each of the kids and make sure I have plenty of wipes and napkins in the car.

What an adventure we had. Life never gets boring when you are a parent!

Daddy letter week 15-16

Hi daddy
I have very exciting news for you today, but you will have to wait till the end of the letter to find out. The bones in my ear that are responsible for hearing are developing, and my taste buds are sprouting, too. From now on, I get a flavor of whatever mommy eat via the amniotic fluid. One study shows that unborn babies swallow more amniotic fluid if it tastes sweet, and less if it's bitter. Pass the cookies! Scans at this stage have shown babies playing with the umbilical cord, snuggling up to the wall of the uterus, apparently for comfort. I have been getting regular bouts of hiccups too, which help my lungs prepare for breathing but it gets annoying after a while. Now the big news daddy, my sex organs are maturing but with a high tech ultrasound machine you can already find out if I am a boy or a girl. Mommy wanted to surprise you, so starting today you better start thinking about boy names, and its better be a good one too. Can’t wait to meet you daddy, play cars and watch football with you.
Love you more than you can imagine already. See you next week!

Daddy Letter Week 13 & 14

I have some exciting news, I went through some big changes during week 13 & 14. These past two weeks I started to get ready for life in the big wide world, practicing swallowing and sucking, the skills I will need to eat. My vocal cords are developing and she's busy gaining weight. She's now five times heavier than I was at 10 weeks. And although you won't feel my movements for a few more weeks, I can feel you and mommy daddy. If you rub your bump I can sense and respond to your touch with a jerky, reflexive movement. My eyes are now in their proper position at the front of my face. My eyelids are still tightly fused, but I am already sensitive to light. For the first time my body is finally growing faster than my head, so I’m beginning to look more in proportion. You know what else is really cool daddy? I now have fingernails, toenails and hair (yes, even eyebrows). Isn’t that cool! My movements are becoming ever more sophisticated. I am practicing breathing, inhaling the amniotic fluid. I can also frown, squint and grimace, twist and turn my joints and I am even able to suck my thumb, feet and, bizarrely, knees!
Have mom started to glow yet? The second trimester is when many women start that famous pregnant glow. Also mommy’s uterus has popped out above your pelvis, so from now on your doctor will check your baby's growth by feeling your bump and measuring the distance from the top of your uterus to the top of your pubic bone. Which means people may be questioning if mommy is pregnant or not. Now that her bump is beginning to sprout, it's time for a shopping spree.
This is it for this week daddy. See you soon.
Love you

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

First I would love to wish all mothers and Happy Mother's day. I hope you all got spoiled and enjoyed your special day.

As for me, I had a magical day. My wonderful husband let me sleep in till almost 9am, then woke me up with a wonderful breakfast in bed with my two loving children. They all three just sat in bed next to me while i enjoyed my breakfast. The entire time Kachow kept singing "happy mothers day to you". I felt totally loved and appreciated. I also received some beautiful flowers, hand picked by my son. And best of all, This guy got me the most amazing gift and totally unexpected. A matching Coach purse and wallet. I KNOW!!! He is awesome!

I wish it was mother's day everyday!

Military Spouse Appreciation Day

I can say I had a good day. I woke up feeling miserable from my cold. Luckily, "This guy" came home early and made me feel very special. He treated me to my favorite soup, Baked potato soup. Yummy!!

Today is military spouse appreciation day on base. They did not do anything big nor fancy. But I have to say that just the thought and the effort to make something and give us appreciation for our sacrifices meant a lot of me. I received a beautiful yellow rose and a Korean mini vase. Two little things to just say; "thank you". Meant more than they imagine.

They also shared my favorite poem.

The Silent Ranks
I wear no uniforms, no blues or greens.
But, I am in the military, in the ranks rarely seen.
I have no rank upon my shoulders. Salutes I do not give.
But in the military world is where I live and am rarely seen.
I am not in the chain of command, orders I do not give or get.
But my husband is the one who does, this I can not forget.
I am not the one who fires a weapon, Who puts his life on the line.
But my job is just as tough, I'm the one who is always left behind.
My husband is a patriot, a brave and pride filled man.
And the call to serve his country not all can understand.
Behind the lines, I see things needed to keep this country free.
My husband makes the sacrifice, but so do my kids and me.
I love the man I married. The military is his life.
So I pledge to support my hero and stand among the silent ranks
known as
THE MILITARY WIFE.
